Design Tool Templates

Use any of a variety of templates for your course. There are homepage templates and also student guides that can be inserted into your courses.

Home Page Template

Get a template for Canvas right inside your Canvas course. You can then use that template to build your homepage.

Share Materials in Canvas

This allows you to share an assignment, discussion, page, or quiz with another faculty member.

Embedding Video in Canvas

Finding Captioned Videos

Make sure your videos are accessible by using captioned videos. Here is how to find captioned videos in Youtube (auto captioned videos DO NOT meet accessibility requirements):

Using Amara to Edit YouTube Auto-Generated Captions

Watch the two videos below to learn how to copy YouTube auto-generated captions/transcripts and edit them in Amara to create usable captions.

Qwickly Multi Course Tool

This cool tool allows you to do one action in Canvas across multiple courses. You can send an announcement, create an assignment, or do many other actions in one place and put them in multiple courses.

Publish Your Course

By default all Canvas courses are unpublished state. A Canvas course will not be available to students until the course start date passes and the course is published. If course start date passes and your course is still not published, students will not be able to access your course content.

See the following video to learn how to publish your course (note: you can slow videos down or speed them up by hitting the setting wheel on the bottom bar of the video):

Using the UDOIT Accessibility Checker

All FC instructors have access to the UDOIT Cloud Accessibility Checker to review courses for potential accessibility issues. Watch this short video to learn how to add the UDOIT tool to your course navigation menu, scan the course, review and correct some common accessibility issues.
