PLUG-INS AND VIEWERS

Plug-ins are small software applications that work with your browser to allow you to use and display various multimedia files on the web. All of them are free and install very quickly on your computer. Make sure you download the plug-in specific to your operating system (Windows or Mac) and version (Win95, Win98,  XP, etc) and your browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape) and version (I.E. 5.x and above, Netscape 4.5 and above but not version 6.0).

While you may get along okay without the plug-ins listed below, chances are that your instructor will post a file in one of these formats and/or send you to a web site that uses these formats. To be completely prepared, you should download and install all of the following plug-ins:

lets you read files saved in PDF format
quicktime logo
QuickTime
lets you hear/see Quicktime movies and animations

Shockwave and Flash Viewer
lets you view Shockwave animations or interact with Flash multimedia used on many of the better educational web sites

Windows Media logo
Media Player
lets you
hear/see audio/visual files, such as sounds and movies

Real Player Logo
Real Player
lets you hear/see Real audio/visual files, such as sounds and movies

1. Enable Java

You will need to have the Sun Microsystems Java Virtual Machine ("JVM") software version 1.4.1 (1.4.2 or higher recommended) software installed in your browser in order for certain areas of WebCT to function properly. DO NOT install version 1.5. 

To install this software, click the Java - Get It Now button, then click "Download J2SE JRE", and follow the online instructions:

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students will have access to courses using WebCT on the first day of class.
Many classes require mandatory orientations. 
For specific course information, check the current semester Schedule of Classes


There may be a 12 - 24 hour delay after registering before you can log in to a WebCT course - please be patient. If, however, you're  unable to access beyond this, for step-by-step log in assistance, visit the FAQ's or email  fconline@fullcoll.edu.
