If your instructor has included the Calendar Tool, you will likely find assignment deadlines, exam dates and other important information here. This tool even allows you to make entries so that you can keep track of important dates.
When you click on the Calendar Tool icon, you will see the current month’s calendar, similar to this one:
Calendar entries from your instructor are listed for the particular day on which they occur. Clicking on an underlined entry takes you to linked page within the course or on the Internet.
If you wish to add an entry for a date, simply click on Add entry.
Note that all of your entries are private: only you can see them. All entries require a Summary, which is what you see in the full month view of the Calendar itself. The Detail entry appears in the single day view. If you want to link your entry to a web site, you can enter a URL. You can also select the time at which you want the entry to appear and disappear. Once finished, click on Add. Once you’ve added your entry, you can Edit, Delete or Reset it, as you wish, at any time.
A most useful function within the Calendar is the Compile tool. This tool lets you compile all the entries between a particular set of dates or for an entire semester into one printable file.
The Compile tool appears in the full month view. When you click on that link, you will see something like this:
You can select the From and To dates for your compilation and you can even Filter your entries so that only certain ones appear. For example, if you wanted to compile all your homework assignments, you might look for Detail entries with the word Homework.
